Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival is probably Clare’s best known Festival. Matchmaking has been going on in Lisdoonvarna for ages. It started when visiting gentry who came to ‘take the waters’ at the spa looked for a match for their children.
The current matchmaker Willie Daly has been plying his trade for about 50 years and has been responsible for bringing thousands of couples together.
The whole month is one of dancing, singing and storytelling with lots of musicians playing in the local hotels and pubs.

This years Marquee event has been postponed to 2023 but the rest of the programme goes ahead and after a few years of Covid restrictions tens of thousands of visitors and hopeful singles are expected.
