Why Visit Bunratty?

As well as the castle and folk park the village has some nice eateries and pubs nearby. There is plenty good accommodation which makes it a good place to stay while exploring County Clare. It is only a short drive to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren.
But the castle is the centerpiece. It was first built in 1250 but the present structure dates from 1425. It is probably the best surviving complete castle from the period.
